Citroen was founded in 1919 in the wake of the First World War by André-Gustave Citroën. It had become the world's fourth largest car manufacturer by 1933. The company originally produced mass market appeal cars and has stuck with this philosophy ever since, they often offered design quirks and idiosyncrasies that resulted in them developing a cult following with their owners. Two car built by Citroen the 2CV and the DS still retain a loyal legion of followers and with their latest range of cars are sure to find many more fans after a decade or so of launching rather bland cars. The new C6 which is the great grand child of the DS is also likely to push the brand up market again.
