Men believe they are better driversA recent survey by Yes Insurance has revealed that nearly a third of men believe that they are better drivers than women. Women are more confident, with 95% believing that they are better drivers than men. Statistics and insurance claims prove that the women are correct, hence the proliferation of women only insurance companies. This can perhaps be backed up by recent research from Bradford University that suggests that women may be biologically predisposed to being safer drivers due to oestrogen. It is believed it may influence the parts of the brain that control rule learning and the ability to pay attention. Contrasting this, the University of Giessen have released some research showing that the lack of testosterone in the womb mean that women have poorer spatial skills so they may experience more difficulty than men when parking or map reading.
