Increased Fines and Points for Mobile Users.
10 Nov 2006
Motorist using mobile phones while driving risk 3 penalty points
and a fine of £60 after new legislation drafted in the new Road
Safety Bill which received Royal assent earlier this week. This is
double the previous fine and with many car insurers taking into account
driving license points, this will result in higher insurance premiums
for some.
The new bill introduces a series of new offences including, causing
death by careless driving and causing death by driving while unlicensed
or disqualified or uninsured and will come into force early next year.
