Gap insurance has been around for a few years now and at its simplest level allows you to claim from the Gap Insurance company the difference between what you paid for your car and what your insurance company offer you as the result of an accident. There are a number of different opions but the simple diagrams in the quote engine allow you to decide which is best for you. Note that Gap insurance is purchased in addition to regular a regular policy, it is not a substitute.
