Careless drivers everywhereUpdated 01 April 2007 A recent survey by Direct Line has found that 37 per cent of the motorists that they surveyed, were regularly committing careless driving offenses. The monitoring over a period of several weeks revealed that 32 per cent of drivers were not signalling at junctions or when changing lanes and that 17 per cent were failing to stop at pedestrian crossings even though doing so could result in a fine of up to £1000 and an addition of three penalty points to their licence. Five per cent of motorist also it emerged flout the new mobile phone laws which prevent the use of a mobile phone while driving This will now result in penalty points as well..
