High cost of car ownership

Car Costs highest in rip off Britain.

A recent Prudential survey has shown that driving a car in the UK can be seriously hard on your wallet. To run an average family car in the UK for a year costs nearly £5000 this was more than £320 more than Germany, £512 more than France and a whopping £642 more than in Spain.

The higher prices include the higher initial cost - up to £2000 more for the same car than in Europe and higher fuel, servicing and road tax.

The UK was a good place to buy car insurance though with the average premium being around £250 per year compared to the £558 it cost to insure a similar car in Italy!
