Norwich Union go Carbon Neutral
Aviva, the parent company of Norwich Union, have stated
that they will be carbon neutral by the end of the first quarter in
2007. This will make them the first insurance company to do so. The
company stated that since 2002 they have significantly cut the carbon
emissions from travel and buildings. The company is believed to have
generated around 110,000 tonnes of carbon in 2006.
Aviva are the world's fifth largest insurer and in recent
months have been enhancing their green credentials by introducing
'pay-as-you-drive' a scheme that rewards motorists for cutting their
mileage and by lobbying the government on the introduction of flood
