One of the most dangerous places to breakdown is on a motorway. The following advice to you could prevent an accident and loss of life.

Pull onto the hard shoulder as far to the left as possible.
- Turn on your hazard lights.
- If it is possible that your vehicle may get hit from behind get yourself and all the passengers out of the car and away from both the front and the rear. Ideally behind a barrier or up an embankment.
- Phone the authorities either from an emergency phone or from a mobile.
- Do not attempt to cross the carriageway to get to an emergency phone they are normally opposite each other.
- If you have a warning triangle place it around 40-50 meters behind your car.
