BMW
is a Munich based motor manufacturer, the name being the achronym for
Barvarian Motor Works. As well as the BMW brand, they also own the Mini
and Rolls Royce brands. BMW have a long history, founded by Karl Friedrich
Rapp in 1913 as an aeroplane engine manufaturer (the round badge is
supposed to be a stylised representation of a propellor flying through
clouds and sky and in the post WW1 era they manufacturer a range of
products from train brakes to motorbike engines. It was not until 1928
that they produced their first car.
The current BMW range is
divded into what the company call Series, denoted by a single letter
or number. This is often followed by a couple of numbers which usually
denotes the engine size so a 325 is a 3 series with an 25 hundred cc
