This UK based prestige
car manufacturer is based in the UK, but owned by US giant Ford. The
company was formed in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford and
based in Kensington. The company was called Bamford and Martin until
1926 when it was renamed the more familiar Aston Martin. The company
was often in a perilous financial situation despite the backing and
financial input of many aristocratic names. In 1947 it was bought
by David Brown and stayed with Sir David Brown Ltd until 1972 when
it was sold along with Lagonda which they also owned. The famous DB
series of cars came from David Brown's initials. The series was revived
under Ford.
Many regard Aston Martin
as the epitomy of the luxury sports car and this reputation has been
enhanced over many years by appearances in TV and film, most notably
in the James Bond series. The high prices of Aston Martin's and their
performance leads to them having a very high insurance group.
Below are the insurance
groups for some popular models. Note: Many insurers do not use the
standard insurance groups quoted by the ABI (Association of British
Insurers). The following insurance groups are for advisory purposes
only, we cannot confirm that they are correct.
